Quarterly Estimated Tax explained simply
If nobody takes taxes out of your pay, the government still wants them four times a year. This estimates each of those four payments.
For example
Expect to owe $12,000 in tax for the year? You'd send about $3,000 four times, in April, June, September, and January.
